AfriCon: UBC's African Connection

In November 2008, the 2008-09 executive launched an Africa Awareness Initiative (AAI) e-newsletter entitled "AfriCon" with a slogan that emphasizes that it is "UBC's African Connection".

The electronic newsletter covers, among other sections, current affairs within Africa, African trivia and African culture. The newsletter is sent out online to AAI's members and other interested parties.

AAI's aims in creating the AfriCon include:

• Creating an effective tool to improve the information that people specifically at the university have about African current affairs
• Enabling AAI to reach out to more people and have a more interactive relationship with its members
